BIZET’S opera Carmen will be screened live at Minehead’s Regal from the Royal Opera House on Wednesday (May 1) at 6.45pm, an earlier than usual start time.

Aigul Akmetshina performs the title role in Damiano Michieletto’s sizzling new production, evoking all the passion and heat of Bizet’s score, which features Carmen’s sultry Habanera and the rousing Toreador song.

Antonello Manacorda and Emmanuel Villaume conduct an international cast which includes Piotr Beczala, Kostas Smoriginas, Blaise Malaba, Sarah Dufresne, Olga Kulchynska, Gabrielė Kupšytė, Pierre Doyen, Vincent Ordonneau, and Grisha Martirosyan.

The 220-minute performance is sung in French with English subtitles and includes one interval.
